Job description

Primary responsibility is to complete the development of the “Seneca Nation Agriculture Food Safety Code”, ensure proper implementation and that the department operates in compliance with the Code. The Seneca Language and Culture Teacher/Curriculum Writer will provide opportunities for proficiency in the Seneca Language using research based methods of immersion and media methods provided within the department. The teacher component will continue to learn the Seneca Language in addition to teaching others who are just coming into the program. This is a way of providing support to new members of the program. This level takes on an older brother/sister or uncle/aunt role to the beginner level, guiding and supporting. This person will continue to work towards master proficiency in the Seneca Language and cultural lifeway’s.

The Curriculum writer component will facilitate the learning process in the adult immersion classroom. They will provide the necessary motivation and structure for the use of the immersion strategies and techniques developed. In the process they will be responsible for developing the curriculum materials and scope and sequence of learning outcomes.

Job qualification

Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field, with 5-10 years of related experience with demonstrated knowledge of the Seneca Language and Culture and experience developing curriculum a must. Preference will be given to individual who has Level III proficiency and working towards a level IV proficiency of Seneca Language and demonstrable knowledge of Seneca Culture.
