Welcome to the Seneca Nation

Emergency Management

The Seneca Nation Department of Emergency Management will utilize a proactive, all hazards approach to develop a comprehensive emergency management program. This will be accomplished by the application of planning, technology, best practices, and management to coordinate an effective response to events that affect large numbers of people in our communities, do extensive damage to property, or disrupt community life. The emergency management program will be greatly enhanced by strong partnerships with other Seneca Nation departments, Indian Nations, jurisdictions, and by productive partnerships with volunteer agencies such as the American Red Cross and Salvation Army. By accomplishing this, we will become a model of success for Indian Country and surrounding communities.

The mission of the Seneca Nation Emergency Management is to serve the citizens of the Seneca Nation through effective planning for natural and man-made disasters. Our goal is to save lives and protect property through coordination of an emergency management system integrated with all emergency response organizations, support services, and volunteers. We will be an advocate for greater community efforts, including educating the general public to mitigate and prepare for potential disasters. We will support efforts to train and exercise emergency responders. We will coordinate with all appropriate agencies for mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery operations.
