Job Description


Provides health information and support services to the Seneca Nation Health System for the delivery of patient care and associated healthcare services. Ensures the integrity of the electronic medical record and monitors documentation. Processes requests for protected health information (PHI) according to accepted privacy and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards. Reports directly to the Health Information Manager.

Qualifications


High School Graduate or equivalent. Completion of an Associate’s Degree in Health Information Technology highly desired, with at least two years experience in a health information management department. Must be knowledgeable in medical terminology, medico-legal processes, anatomy and physiology, and release of information. Must have thorough knowledge of computer software and electronic medical records programs.

Peer Recovery Advocate (FT)

Job Description


Peer Recovery Advocate will provide direct services to community members struggling with substance use and behavioral health concerns. Incumbent will promote recovery and aid individuals with overcoming barriers and obstacles to recovery. Will serve as a personal guide, and member for people seeking recovery. Serve as a role models for recipients and educate recipients about self-help techniques and group process; teach them effective coping strategies, sometimes based on personal experience; assist in clarifying goals for rehabilitation and recovery; and help them develop support systems. Peer Recovery Advocates model competence and the possibility of recovery, and assist recipients in developing the perspectives and skills that facilitate recovery.

Qualifications


High School Diploma or equivalency. Knowledge of the recovery process and the ability to facilitate recovery using established standardized processes. Knowledge and skill to teach and engage in basic problem solving strategies to support individual clients in self-directed recovery. Knowledge of the signs and symptoms of substance use disorders and mental illness. Knowledge and skill sufficient to use community resources necessary for independent living and ability to teach those skills to other individuals. Community resources may include but are not limited to: social security office, Department of Child and Family Services, local community center, Library, restaurants, clients’ service organizations, housing providers, etc. The advocate may accompany clients to community resources to assist them in accessing these resources. Knowledge of how to establish and sustain self-help (mutual support) and educational groups by soliciting input from the consumers on their strengths and interests. A valid driver’s license and ability to drive a Nation vehicle is required as some driving and/or transportation may be required to take clients to medical appointments, job sites, social activities and other community resources. Maintain strict confidentiality and HIPAA standards. Will obtain certification as Certified Recovery Peer Advocate within 12 months of employment.
