Public Notice: Red House Bridge Replacement and Old Route 17 Rehabilitation

The Seneca Nation Environmental Protection Department has received a permit from the NYS Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) for a Construction Project Within a Waterway (CPWW) for the proposed replacement of the Red House Bridge, rehabilitation of the paved section of Old Route 17 as a gravel roadway, reestablishment of roadside drainage features, and culvert replacements.  These improvements require permitting under Section 404 of the federal Clean Water Act (CWA), which in turn requires certification under CWA § 401 by the Seneca Nation.

Pursuant to CWA § 401(a)(1), the public comment period for the proposed CWA § 401 certification of the Old Route 17 Project by EPD is thirty (30) days from the date of publication of the notice.  A public comment period has been made available for community members, agencies, and the public, through 4:30 pm on February 22, 2023.  Comments can be submitted by email to epd@sni.org or by mail to the Seneca Nation Environmental Protection Department, 84 Iroquois Drive, Irving NY 14081, Attention: Water Program Manager.
