MMIWP Walk & Community Dinner

May 5 @ 3:00 pm

Onöhsagwë:de’ Cultural Center

Join us at the Onöhsagwë:de’ Cultural Center for a walk and community dinner in honor of Missing & Murdered Indigenous Women & People (MMIWP). The walk will begin at the front of the Onöhsagwë:de’ Cultural Center at 3pm and there will be t-shirts set up on a first come, first serve basis. The Community Dinner will be held in the Grand Hall in the SAAB and will be catered by Harvest Moon.

During dinner, there will be a presentation featuring Aiyana Jacy (Mohawk, Six Nations). Aiyana is a student and advocate who uses her heritage and voice to create space for MMIWP conversations. This lead her to create a fashion show named “In Her Shows” held in honor of the MMIWP movement.

Attendees are encouraged to wear red, ribbon skirts, moccasins, red handprints, and bring signs to bring awareness and honor to those who have not made it home.
