Birch Bark Canoe Building with Chuck Commanda

In collaboration with Buffalo Maritime Center (BMC), the SINM/Onönhsagwë:de’ Cultural Center, Men’s Ceremonial Department and the Allegany Teacher Support & Community Outreach Department visited their Buffalo woodshop in September and October to help build a birch bark canoe.
As part of that collaboration, BMC will be bringing the canoe down to Salamanca, NY! Come visit the museum on March 26th from 6pm to 8pm and see the birch bark canoe that is being built! This event will feature a conversation with Chuck Commanda, master birch bark canoe builder and a live look at the progress BMC has made.
