Buffalo Creek Treaty Commemoration

@Burchfield Nature & Art Center
The Commemoration is held annually to reaffirm the signing of the Buffalo Creek Treaty of 1842. This treaty restored the Seneca Nation territories of Cattaraugus and Allegany to the possession of the Seneca after a fraudulently manipulated treaty in 1838 had attempted to turn the territories over to the Ogden Land Company. The commemoration event memorializes the agreement between the Seneca and the United States Government.
